According to The Sun, Prince Tonye Princewill, a distinguished investor, politician, film producer, and philanthropist, has been a prominent figure in Nigerian politics for several years. In 2015, he emerged as the Labour Party governorship candidate in Rivers State, following an earlier candidacy in 2007 under the Action Congress platform. Until recently, Princewill was a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). He is also known as the son of the late King T.J.T. Princewill of the Kalabari Kingdom in Rivers State. In a recent interview with Fred Itua, Princewill shared his insights on the ongoing crisis in Rivers State and his perspectives on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

Discussing the political landscape and his potential involvement in the 2027 elections, Princewill affirmed his commitment to participating, although the exact capacity remains uncertain. Despite expressing a sense of disillusionment with the current state of politics, he emphasized the importance of perseverance and collective effort to drive positive change. Reflecting on his political journey, he mentioned his support for Rotimi Amaechi in 2007, noting Amaechi's efforts to address critical issues in the state. Princewill expressed a similar hope for the future, aiming to support Governor Sim in continuing necessary reforms.

Princewill’s political career is marked by his consistent advocacy for effective governance and development in Rivers State. His tenure in various political parties and candidacies highlights his dedication to the state’s progress. His recent statements underscore a commitment to remaining engaged in the political arena, driven by a desire to see tangible improvements in governance and quality of life for the citizens of Rivers State.

In addition to his political engagements, Princewill’s background as an investor and film producer showcases his diverse interests and contributions to society. His philanthropic activities further reflect his commitment to social development, extending beyond the realm of politics. As Rivers State continues to navigate its challenges, figures like Princewill play a crucial role in shaping its future through their multifaceted involvement and advocacy.

He said: Certainly I will be involved. What I don’t know is in what capacity. The politics I see is no longer interesting. But we will continue our work and hope enough people join us to ask for things to improve. Just as in 2007, I helped Amaechi to continue because he was doing what needed to be done, my prayer is in 2027, I will help Sim continue because he is doing what needs to be done too.
