Pro-Fubara Lawmakers Confirm One Commissioner

The Rivers State House of Assembly confirmed Emmanuel Frank-Fubara as a commissioner nominee following the request by Governor Siminalayi Fubara. The Assembly, led by Victor Oko-Jumbo, scrutinized and approved Frank-Fubara's credentials. During the screening, Frank-Fubara expressed readiness to serve in any capacity. The Deputy Speaker, Timothy Orubieninmigha, praised his character, and the nominee was confirmed by a unanimous voice vote.

PFN Moves to Address Food Insecurity

The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) endorsed the "FOOD4ALL Initiative" to combat food insecurity, high prices, unemployment, poverty, and national instability in Nigeria. Created by FUND-YES Cooperative and Multi-Life Savers For The Less Privileged People, this initiative aims to establish a grassroots agricultural network of six million farmers.

Emirate tussle: Kwankwaso, not Tinubu will suffer in 2027 – APC Chairman

The Kano State APC expressed confidence that the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) will be rejected in 2027 due to the ongoing political crisis. This followed claims by NNPP Chairman Hashimu Dungurawa that President Tinubu's involvement in the Emirate tussle would harm his re-election. However, APC Chairman Abdullahi Abbas countered, stating that the APC is more unified and will secure more votes for Tinubu than in 2023. He asserted that the Emirate crisis will instead negatively impact NNPP leader Rabiu Kwankwaso's chances in 2027. Abbas criticized the NNPP government for its failures and predicted that Kano's citizens will reject the NNPP due to their dissatisfaction with the current administration.

BREAKING: Nigerian Govt suspends tax, import duties for maize, wheat, brown rice

The Nigerian government announced a 150-day suspension of duties, tariffs, and taxes on importing maize, husked brown rice, wheat, and cowpeas via land and sea borders. This initiative, revealed by Agriculture Minister Abubakar Kyari, aims to address food security by providing a duty-free import window. The government will also import 250,000 metric tons each of wheat and maize to support small-scale processors and millers. This measure seeks to mitigate high food prices and ensure food safety standards.
