Defense Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has now claimed that the Gen Z movement, that was started by the Kenyan youthful population has been hijacked by a section of politician.
Speaking to Citizen TV on Wednesday night, Mr Duale said that the movement had no leaders at the beginning, but has since been taken by a some leaders in the opposition alliance, who he was want to use the movement to for political scores.
He accused activist Boniface Mwangi, Embakasi East constituency member of parliament Babu Owino, Nairobi county senator Edwin Sifuna, Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Jeremiah Kioni and his predecessor Eugine Wamalwa of hijacking the movement.
Duale further warned that there is no regime that can be changed to a Twitter space, which has been the main meeting point for the Gen Zs before protests.
"You cannot do a regime change through Twitter space. I think the Gen Zs have been hijacked, they said they are tribe less and leaderless. Are Boniface Mwangi, Babu Owino, Sifuna, Kalonzo Musyoka, Kioni and Wamalwa Gen Z?" He said
The aforementioned leaders accused of hijacking the Gen Z movement have been supportive of the Gen Z movement, holding regular press briefings to call out anytime the police exercises excess force when quelling the protests.
