Elder statesman Edwin Clark has commented on the situation in Rivers State, praising Governor Siminalayi Fubara's resilience in overcoming obstacles allegedly created by former Governor Nyesom Wike.

In a recent report by Tribune, Clark stated that Fubara's efforts will ultimately lead to freedom for him and the people of Rivers State. He also addressed the defection of 27 PDP members in the state House of Assembly to the APC. He said that according to the constitution, they were no longer members of the house, and as such they no longer hold power over Fubara.

Chief Clark questioned why the PDP acting National Chairman, Damagun, did not intervene when the defections occurred. He urged Damagun to explain his lack of action, especially when other PDP stakeholders like Governor Bala Mohammed were advocating for peace.

In Chief Edwin Clark's words: "Fubara is managing to disentangle himself from the chains placed on his feet by Wike and gain his freedom, and by extension, freedom to the people of Rivers State".
