The All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed concerns that President Bola Tinubu’s chances of re-election in 2027 are uncertain due to the ongoing economic challenges and potential opposition alliances, according to Punch. Despite these hurdles, the party is confident that Tinubu’s leadership and reforms will pave the way for his re-election.

Nze Chidi Duru, the Deputy National Organising Secretary, acknowledged the economic difficulties in an interview but emphasized that the president's reforms aim to stabilize the economy. He stated, “Our party has always recognised that the current economic environment is challenging. When Mr. President took office, he asked Nigerians not to pity him. He sought and worked hard for this position to provide leadership for Nigeria."

Duru expressed confidence in Tinubu's awareness of public expectations and the need for citizens' comfort. He explained that discussions about the 2027 election are relevant, noting, “In a country's life, four years is like yesterday.”

He further elaborated that political office holders are judged from their first day in office, and their performance determines re-election chances. Duru asserted that unless President Tinubu decides not to run, the APC is poised to support his candidacy in 2027, leveraging the incumbency factor.
