Aiyedatiwa and 15 Others Vie for Ondo APC Governorship Ticket Today

Today marks a crucial juncture for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State as 16 contenders, including the incumbent Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, compete for the party's gubernatorial ticket.

The primary election, anticipated to be fiercely contested, will involve 171,922 registered party members across the state's 203 wards and 18 local government areas, according to reports from PUNCH.

Among the aspirants are prominent figures such as Senator Jimoh Ibrahim, Senior Advocate of Nigeria Olusola Oke, former President of the Nigerian Medical Association Prof. Francis Faduyile, and APC National Vice Chairman (South-West) Isaacs Kekemeke.

The lineup also includes Dr. Funmi Waheed-Adekojo, Dr. Soji Ehinlanwo, and several others vying to secure the APC ticket for the governorship race in Ondo State.

Governor Aiyedatiwa, benefiting from incumbency and a wave of endorsements from traditional rulers and legislative representatives, enters the fray as a strong contender.

His campaign, concluding with visits to key council areas of Akoko North West, Akoko North East, and Akoko South, has emphasized continuity and development, resonating with supporters eager to maintain progress achieved under his leadership.

In a recent statement, Aiyedatiwa conveyed confidence in securing the party's nomination, rallying support from constituents across the state.

“Throughout this campaign journey, the immense support I’ve garnered stresses the resounding desire of the people of Ondo State for continuity. This affirmation is rooted in the remarkable progress achieved during the short period we have spent in office. The people of Ondo state yearn for the continuation of this positive trajectory and it is evident that they believe I am the right candidate to lead this charge" expressed Governor Aiyedatiwa.

Meanwhile, other aspirants like Senator Ibrahim and Olusola Oke have amassed endorsements and support from various quarters.

Senator Ibrahim, reflecting on his longstanding political career and experience, emphasized qualifications and readiness for leadership, dismissing notions of an easy victory solely based on endorsements.
