According to Punch, A video has surfaced showing a police officer, Inspector Emmanuel, lamenting the deplorable living conditions of mobile policemen on special duties in Lagos. The officers are housed in an uncompleted building with a bushy and swampy environment in the Ibeju Lekki area. The video reveals the shocking state of the accommodation, with officers living in a building without a good roof, windows, or basic amenities.
Emmanuel alleged that their supervisor, Supol Boniface Izebedi, victimizes them by withholding their allowances when they complain about the poor conditions. The officer described the lack of basic amenities, including good ventilation, water, toilet facilities, and a proper roof. He emphasized that the living conditions are unbearable, especially during rainfall, when they have to mop the floors constantly. The officers are seeking better living conditions, but their pleas have fallen on deaf ears.
Despite reaching out to the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, and the Force PRO, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, no comments or responses were received, leaving the officers' pleas for better living conditions unaddressed. Hundeyin declined to comment, stating that the Force PRO was better positioned to speak on the matter, while Adejobi did not respond to calls, texts, or WhatsApp messages.
