Veteran Nollywood actor Jerry Amilo reflected on his early days in the industry, especially highlighting the year 1997. He discussed his disciplined work ethic and the distinctive customs that were common during that period.

In a recent YouTube video from 3ple E Nolly TV, Jerry Amilo reminisced about always carrying a substantial amount of money whenever he left his house. He specified that he never went out without having more than 60,000 naira on him. This amount was considered substantial in 1997, reflecting his success and financial security early in his career.

Amilo emphasized the importance of discipline in his daily routine. He took pride in maintaining strict personal standards and a strong work ethic. His commitment to discipline influenced not only himself but also those around him, thereby shaping the work environment in his industry.

He also recounted an intriguing story about how tardiness was handled in the industry. In contrast to today, being on time was rigorously enforced. Actors who arrived late faced consequences that involved performing frog jumps as a punishment. This wasn't just a humorous penalty but a strict measure to ensure everyone respected the schedule.

Amilo stressed that this disciplinary measure applied not only to anyone but also to individuals who are now prominent figures in the industry. He noted that many of today's industry leaders had to go through these rigorous exercises in their early days. This tradition played a crucial role in cultivating discipline and punctuality among all actors, irrespective of their status. Jerry Amilo's reminiscences vividly describe an era in Nollywood when adherence to rules and punctuality were highly valued.

Hear him: "There is no day I leave my house in those days that I don't leave with more than 60,000 naira, that was in 1997. You know I was very disciplined. Those days when they come late the stage, they will do frog jump (your big boys) in the industry today. They all did frog jump."
