Salihu Lukman, formerly the national vice chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the North-West region, recently voiced his reservations about the actions of Senate President Godswill Akpabio. Salihu criticized Akpabio for what he viewed as tarnishing the image of Nigerians through disrespecting the Senate institution and his fellow senators.
Salihu pointed out that the Senate's diminishing independence, becoming more subservient to the presidency, has worsened the situation. This shift, he argued, has allowed the Senate President to act in ways detrimental to the institution's integrity and its members' reputation.
Salihu stressed the importance of responsible and respectful conduct within the Senate to maintain its credibility and the trust of the Nigerian populace.
In a report from The Sun, Salihu Lukman said, “The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, is turning out to be an uncommon embarrassment to Nigerians, shamelessly desecrating the institution of the Senate and his colleagues.”
