He observed a departure from the traditional practice during Sallah celebrations, where people seek blessings from former leaders, now replaced by political figures aligning with Buhari to leverage his influence and strengthen Northern unity.
According to Sani, this strategy mirrors past tactics of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), focusing on mobilizing voters and reducing the influence of figures like Tinubu.
It indicates a deliberate effort by Northern leaders to consolidate their position and possibly alter the political landscape in their favor.
In Shehu Sani's words in an interview with The Sun, he said, "It is a tradition that each time there is Sallah celebration, people pay homage to former leaders. You pay homage to former leaders so that you get the necessary blessings from them, but in the case of what has happened recently, the fact of the matter is that Northern political leaders are regrouping and their focal point is Buhari."
