Tinubu meets Edo APC gov candidate, others in Abuja

President Bola Tinubu on Friday received the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the September Edo State governorship election, Monday Okpebholo, and his running mate, Dennis Idahosa, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

This was as the Edo State APC Chapter affirmed confidence in its chances of clinching the governorship seat in the forthcoming election.

It premised its confidence on the disarray among the ranks of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party party in the state.

NRC suspends train services in Delta, Kogi

The Nigerian Railway Corporation has announced the suspension of services between Delta and Kogi due to the unsatisfactory nature of the track conditions from Ujevwu in Delta State to Itakpe in Kogi State.

This was disclosed in a notice titled “Public Announcement” which was sent to customers, indicating that the agency plans to resume operations on Monday, July 8, 2024.

The suspension, effective from Friday, was attributed to an obstruction on the track.

Keyamo woos investors, says industry key to boost trade, tourism, create jobs

The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development Festus Keyamo has said investment in the aviation industry would boost trade, tourism, create jobs and spur innovation.

The Minister said the sector plays a critical role in global trade by facilitating swift and efficient transportation of high-value, time-sensitive goods such as electronics, pharmaceuticals, and perishable items.

He said the link between tourism and aviation cannot be overemphasised, stating that the growth witnessed in international tourism is largely driven by the expansion of air travel.

Govs back Ohanaeze on S’East industrialisation plans

The Chairman of the South-East Governors Forum and governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma, on Friday, said the Forum would partner with Ohaneze Ndigbo to industrialize the South-East zone.

The governor stated this during a consultative meeting with members of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Council of Igbo Business Leaders at the Government House, Owerri.

Uzodinma, who said his state was ready for business and eager to receive investors with the requisite know-how and technology in gas exploration, commended the apex socio-cultural organisation in Igbo land for constituting the council.
