The Rotimi Amaechi group in Rivers State has added fuel to the fire by accusing other APC members of trying to undermine the party's prospects in the upcoming 2019 and 2023 elections.
According to a statement made by Mr. Darlington Nwauju, the faction spokesman, the party claimed that individuals, including the party's former chairman in Khana Local Government Area, had colluded with outside forces to undermine the party and cause its downfall.
As reported by Punch News, he firmly believes that freedom of choice is celebrated by democracies worldwide. In an effort to sow discord inside our party and give a platform to corrupt, power-hungry individuals, they colluded with the most vocal APC detractors in Rivers State.
There are claims that the party's previous chairman in Khana Local Government Area reported instances of theft involving the whole election fund, which effectively barred the party from running candidates.
There has been a leadership struggle in the Rivers APC for months, including the Amaechi and Nyesom Wike groups.
