Edo Police Arrest Three for Cultism, Recover Arms

The Edo State Police Command arrested three suspected members of the Maphite confraternity in Benin City. The suspects, Eyefia Godbless, Imuetiyan Ewemade, and Emeka Okpaja, were allegedly planning to avenge a member's death. Police recovered an automatic pump-action gun, 11 live cartridges, and other items. The suspects confessed to their cult membership. Additionally, other arrests were made, including a man with a pump-action gun in a Mercedes Benz and another who allegedly strangled his wife. The police emphasized the dangers of cultism and urged youth to engage in positive activities.

Police Arrest Wanted Killer in Osun

The Osun State Police Command arrested Bode Owoeye, a notorious cultist and alleged serial killer, in Ilesa. Owoeye, associated with the Aiye Confraternity, faced charges including conspiracy, armed robbery, and murder. His arrest followed credible intelligence. During interrogation, he confessed to being a political thug. Police recovered firearms and other items from the gang, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend remaining members.

The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Akinloye Olakulehin, expressed gratitude to the indigenes for their support during his struggle to become the 43rd Olubadan. He made this statement during his inaugural address after being presented with the staff and instrument of office by Governor Seyi Makinde. The previous Olubadan, Oba Mahood Olalekan Balogun, passed away on March 14, and Olakulehin was appointed on April 12, with his coronation taking place on July 12. He promised continued developmental projects under his reign and thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for sending a representative to his coronation.

Terror war: MNJTF troops neutralize two terrorists, as five surrender

MNJTF troops neutralized two Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists in Borno State during Operation Lake Sanity 2. They destroyed a terrorist hideout and recovered weapons and equipment. Additionally, five terrorists, aged 15 to 27, surrendered in Marte Local Government Area. MNJTF's Force Commander, Major General Ibrahim Sallau Ali, praised the troops' bravery and urged remaining terrorists to surrender.
