According to Punch, A group of protesters, Kaduna Citizens Watch for Good Governance, has submitted a petition to the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), calling for the immediate arrest and probe of former Governor Nasir El-Rufai over alleged N423bn theft.

The petition follows a report by the Kaduna State House of Assembly, which indicted El-Rufai and his appointees for misappropriation of loans and theft. The group, which had earlier protested at the Kaduna State Government House, is seeking El-Rufai's prosecution for alleged fraud.

The Chairman of the group, Victor Duniya, stated that prosecuting El-Rufai and his cabinet members would serve as a deterrent for public officials in the state. He expressed confidence in the anti-graft agencies' ability to combat corruption in Nigeria.

El-Rufai has commenced legal action against the Assembly and the state government, seeking to quash the report. However, the protesters are demanding that the ICPC and EFCC investigate and arrest El-Rufai for alleged corruption.
