Rivers crisis: Wike is Fubara’s mentor, political investment – APC Chairman

The All Progressives Congress, APC, Caretaker Committee Chairman of Rivers State, Tony Okocha has described the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike as the mentor of Governor Sim Fubara.

Okocha said Fubara was Wike’s political investment, stressing that the former wouldn’t have been a governor without the backing of the minister.

Featuring on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Okocha also explained the reason behind the rift between Wike and Fubara.

Rivers seals collapsed building site

The Rivers Government has sealed off the site of a collapsed building in Rumuodara, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, saying that the structure has no approval.

Mr Isaac Umejuru, the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, told newsmen in Port Harcourt on Saturday that the state government would hold the engineer that handled the project responsible.

“The building was constructed without approval from the state government, it collapsed because a new structure was placed on the old one.

Gov. Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers has assured the people of the state of unwavering commitment to providing critical infrastructure required for the speedy development of the state.

Fubara gave the assurance while speaking to newsmen after the inspection of the reconstruction work at the Zonal Hospital in Bori town, Khana Local Government Area.

The governor said that there was no cause to worry over the recent pronouncements of the appeal court.

UK Labour Party victory tonic for Nigeria’s counterpart – LP leader

Hon. Afam Ogene, Leader of Labour Party Caucus in the House of Representatives, has commended UK’s election process which led to victory for LP over the ruling Conservative Party.

Ogene, who represents Ogbaru Federal Constituency, said the opposition party’s victory should be a tonic for action for the Labour Party in Nigeria in the 2027 general elections.

In a statement issued in Awka on Friday the lawmaker said that the election “tells vivid tales of hope for the opposition, competence and integrity of the electoral umpires in the UK.
