Vincent Enyeama, the former goalkeeper of the Super Eagles, has clarified why he opted against applying for the head coaching position of the Nigerian national team. Despite his illustrious career and vast experience, Enyeama cited two primary reasons for his decision.

In an interview with Afrik-Foot, the 41-year-old football icon revealed that he lacks the necessary coaching certification required for the Super Eagles job. Additionally, since retiring from professional football, he has been heavily involved in managing his hotel business, which demands his full attention.

Enyeama expressed his willingness to contribute to the national team setup if approached by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to share his expertise. However, he emphasized the importance of obtaining the requisite coaching certification before considering any coaching role with the Super Eagles or any other national team.

Furthermore, Enyeama expressed his preference for coaching a full team rather than just focusing on goalkeepers. He highlighted the challenges of managing established goalkeepers and emphasized the benefits of coaching young players, who are more receptive to learning. Enyeama's aspirations extend beyond goalkeeper training, as he aims to manage a full team and leverage his comprehensive understanding of the game to make a significant coaching impact.
