According to Punch Newspaper, the Oluwo of Iwo has said if the government empowers the kings in the country, there will be no lapses in security.

He stated this in an interview with Punch Newspaper. He said the kings in the country have significant roles to play in the betterment of the country, but they lack recognition.


He also stated that there would be no hiding places for criminals if the traditional rulers in the country were empowered. He said the criminals cannot be traced if the government does not fund the traditional rulers. He said the kings are toothless because they do not have autonomy.

He said there are numerous problems at the grassroot levels and it is only the kings that have power over the grassroot.

The Oluwo also stated that traditional institutions have been degraded because politicians do not appreciate kingship.
