The family of Nick Imudia, the late former CEO of e-commerce company Konga, has denied reports stating he committed suicide, emphasizing that investigations are still underway to determine the cause of his death, as reported by Punch.

In a statement, the family refuted claims that Imudia had made farewell calls to his brother and daughter with instructions before his death, calling these allegations baseless.

Dr. Anthony N. Imudia, representing the family, expressed dissatisfaction with the media's premature coverage of Imudia’s death, which occurred while medical personnel were still trying to revive him. The family criticized the media for misreporting Imudia's death as a suicide.

The statement read partly, “How come the news was reported so hastily (less than 3 hours from his death) before his family members even knew about it – and the medical team was still trying to resuscitate him at the hospital! The Imudia family wonders!

“Nick never showed any sign of stress and he was not diagnosed as depressed at any point. The thought of suicide in the manner portrayed and hastily reported by the news media is suspect.”

The family explained that Imudia was in Lagos for a short visit after traveling to the Netherlands and was due to return to Nairobi the next day when he died suddenly. They emphasized that Imudia was lively and that those who had seen him shortly before his death were shocked by the suicide reports. The family asked the media and public to allow them to mourn without spreading unfounded rumors.

PUNCH Online had earlier reported that Imudia, who was the CEO of D.light International at the time of his death, allegedly died by suicide at his Lekki residence in Lagos. The state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident, stating that it occurred on June 25 and that an investigation is being conducted by the homicide section of SCID, Yaba.
