The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, says President Bola Tinubu has failed Nigerians.

PDP noted that Tinubu’s bad leadership had plunged Nigerians into hardship and worsened the precarious economic situation.

The opposition party said Tinubu’s administration had failed to address the problems caused by the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari.

In a post on its X page, PDP wrote: “The Tinubu administration’s bad leadership has plunged Nigerians into unimaginable hardship, exacerbating the country’s already precarious economic and social conditions.

“Since assuming office in 2023, the APC led administration’s policies and actions have only served to worsen the lives of Nigerians.

“One of the most significant hardships faced by Nigerians is the escalating cost of living.

If President Joe Biden is going to survive pressure to abandon his re-election campaign after a poor showing in his debate with Donald Trump, he needs to ace a gauntlet of events in the coming days.

As calls grow from some of his own Democrats to step aside, and support coalesces around the idea of Vice President Kamala Harris taking his place in the November election, Biden needs to demonstrate stamina and mental acuity to voters and donors.

Biden will host families at the annual July 4 Independence Day festivities at the White House on Thursday, be interviewed on ABC News on Friday, and travel to Wisconsin the same day for a campaign rally with hundreds of supporters.

On Sunday, Biden and his wife Jill speak to thousands at the National Education Association in Pennsylvania. Next week he hosts dozens of world leaders at the NATO summit in Washington, and holds a rare solo news conference. He has also done several radio interviews.

Dozens of House Democrats are watching closely, prepared to ask Biden to step aside if he falters in the ABC interview, a source told Reuters.

In a radio interview with WURD that aired on Thursday morning, Biden spoke about his record delivering for Black Americans as president. He stuttered occasionally.

Asked whether there was any reason for the American people to be concerned after his halting performance in last week's debate with Trump, Biden demurred.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says its office in the Sankara area of Ukum LGA in Benue has been burnt down.

In a statement on Wednesday, Sam Olumekun, INEC’s national commissioner and chairman for information and voter education committee, said the incident was reported by Sam Egwu, the state’s resident electoral commissioner (REC).

He said the youths in the area, who were protesting against the activities of bandits in the communities, attacked the INEC office and other government facilities around 2pm.

“Although no casualties were reported, the building has been extensively damaged. Office furniture and other movable and immovable materials, including 10 electric generators, 300 ballot boxes, and 270 voting cubicles, were destroyed in the attack,” the statement reads.

Finidi George, former Super Eagles head coach, has been unveiled as the new manager of Rivers United.

The club announced the arrival of the 52-year-old in a post on its X account on Wednesday.

Finidi accepted the new role a few weeks after resigning as head coach of the men’s national team.

The resignation came after managing only two competitive games as the Eagle coach following his appointment in April.

He led the team to a 1-1 home draw against South Africa in his first game and a 2-1 loss to the Benin Republic in the second game. Both matches were 2026 World Cup qualifiers. The latest string of performances condemned Nigeria to fifth in the qualification group, having previously drawn against Lesotho and Zimbabwe.

The uninspiring results stirred adverse reactions from Nigerians, particularly on social media.
