In a recent interview with Channels Television, Group Captain Sadeeq Shehu, a security consultant, offered a unique perspective on Boko Haram's recent suicide bombing attacks in Gwoza, Borno State. While condemning the attacks, Shehu suggested that the terrorist group's shift towards suicide bombing may indicate they are under pressure and no longer capable of carrying out conventional attacks against military targets.

According to Shehu, suicide bombing is not Boko Haram's primary modus operandi, and their resort to this tactic may signify a decline in their capabilities. He noted that the group's usual tactics include attacks on military barracks and formations, but their recent targeting of civilians through suicide bombing suggests they are no longer able to execute more complex operations.

Shehu's analysis offers a glimmer of hope in the fight against terrorism, implying that Boko Haram may be weakening and resorting to desperate measures. However, he also emphasized the need for continued vigilance and effective counter-terrorism strategies to prevent further civilian casualties.

In his words;

"When you look at the tactics and modus operandi of Boko Haram, every terrorist organization has its own modus operandi. Suicide Bombing for Boko Haram is not even the main modus operandi that they use. So for them to have resorted to this, In one way, it's a positive indication. It means they're no longer able to carry out conventional attacks whether against barracks or military formations. Now, they've resorted to hitting civilians blindly. To some extent, it shows they're under pressure and can no longer carry out those things"
