Deji Adeyanju Reacts to Wike's Vow to stop Ireti Kingibe from returning to the Senate Come 2027

Human rights lawyer Deji Adeyanju responded to remarks made by a former Rivers State governor about the 2027 Senate elections for the FCT. The former governor boldly challenged Senator Ireti Kingibe, vowing to block her Senate return in 2027.

Adeyanju stressed the need for FCT residents to freely elect their senator in 2027, without undue influence from figures like Minister Nyesom Wike. He cautioned against replicating the coercion-fueled election dynamics often seen in Rivers State.

Questioning Wike's authority over FCT elections, Adeyanju called out the territory's lacking amenities highlighted by Senator Kingibe. He contrasted FCT's process with Rivers State, where outcomes are often imposed through force.

Adeyanju slammed Nigerian politicians for their arrogance and tactics of manipulating elections, including meddling with INEC. He likened them to power-hungry celebrities and pastors who stifle opposition using their clout.

According to Sahara Reporters, Adeyanju said, “FCT is not Rivers, where people write results and shoot guns. Even incumbent presidents get defeated in the FCT.

“I know these folks have 100% control of INEC and other rigging mechanisms, but the arrogance is truly uncalled for.

“Nigerian politicians are like power-drunk Nigerian celebrities and pastors who can boast openly about getting the police to lock you up, and they will eventually do it."
