Segun Sowunmi, former spokesperson for the Atiku Campaign Organization, disclosed an intriguing aspect of Nyesom Wike's political journey, revealing that during his tenure as Minister under the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration, Wike informed the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) about his invitation to join the ruling APC to form a government.

Wike, who was appointed Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) by the Tinubu administration, was notably the sole PDP member to hold a ministerial position at the time. However, his dual allegiance sparked controversy, with concerns raised about his loyalty.

Speaking on Arise TV, Sowunmi addressed whether Wike should be invited to the upcoming PDP NEC meeting given his current status as a Minister under the APC government and his membership in the PDP.

Sowunmi suggested a reform approach, highlighting the need for clarity and accountability. He proposed that the PDP leadership acknowledge Wike's appointment and instruct him to represent the party's values effectively. Additionally, Sowunmi recommended temporarily freezing Wike's party membership and transferring leadership in Rivers State to a serving governor to avoid conflicts of interest.

According to Sowunmi, Wike's understanding of the consequences of his dual role should have been clearly communicated, emphasizing that his ministerial appointment stemmed from his position as governor.
