Oyo State Governor and G-5 member Seyi Makinde has refuted rumors that he and the other members of the G-5 are turning against the party after Wike lost the presidential primary to Atiku Abubakar.
Makinde recently stated in an interview that the party's constitution is very clear on zoning issues and that despite raising the issue, the PDP leadership has refused to address it. As a result, they are not going to simply brush it under the rug.
"We had problems, and we brought those problems up," he admitted. We argued that the party's constitution which I brought up at the NEC meeting is extremely clear on rotation and zoning. Although many would argue that Wike's loss in the presidential primaries is the reason for all of this, that is not the case. A candidate has surfaced after the primaries have ended. But does that imply that all the issues we have brought up that they have refused to address will be ignored? These are pretty basic problems.
