Hardship in Nigeria: Kogi Cleric Urges Tinubu to Prioritize Masses’ Welfare

According to reports on DAILY POST, Lokoja, Kogi State — Kashim Imam, the Chief Imam of Nasara Cinema Juma’at Mosque, has called on President Ahmed Bola Tinubu to prioritize the welfare of Nigerians amidst the ongoing economic challenges.

The cleric made this appeal during a Juma’at sermon in Lokoja on Friday, emphasizing the need for swift action to alleviate the suffering of the masses.

Imam highlighted the dire economic conditions that have left many Nigerians struggling to afford basic necessities.

"The economic hardship has left many Nigerians unable to afford basic necessities, with millions going to bed hungry and many more facing unemployment and homelessness," he said.

He expressed concern over the extravagant spending of scarce resources by government officials on luxury items such as SUVs and lavish foreign trips.

"The extravagant spending of scarce resources by the executive, legislature, and judiciary on items like SUVs for government officials and lavish foreign trips is deeply troubling and unacceptable," Imam lamented.

The cleric urged President Tinubu to engage in inclusive discussions with political stakeholders to find viable solutions to these economic challenges.

He also called on lawmakers to attend to the needs of their constituents, particularly during times of economic distress, and urged state governors to prioritize the welfare of their citizens through people-centric policies.

Imam encouraged the electorate to vote conscientiously during elections, ensuring that elected leaders prioritize the welfare and interests of the masses.

He stressed the importance of electing leaders who are committed to addressing the needs of the people and improving their quality of life.

The appeal from the Kogi cleric reflects the growing concern among religious and community leaders about the economic situation in Nigeria and the urgent need for government action to support the well-being of its citizens.
