In an open letter, seasoned political analyst Herman Manyora conveyed his worries to President William Ruto, underlining a fundamental issue: while many Kenyans still admire the president, his recent acts are making it increasingly difficult for them to remain loyal.

Despite President Ruto's flaws and the erosion of trust among many, there is still a part of the community who admires him, expecting that he will eventually realign his policies and rediscover his senses. However, this remaining goodwill is jeopardized since the president's actions and policies generate grief and disappointment among his fans, making it difficult for them to maintain their unwavering support.

Manyora notes that the president's recent attempts to defend himself in the face of mounting opposition have failed to persuade the public. Despite efforts to rationalize his conduct, Kenyans remain skeptical, alienating people who once supported his leadership.

The analyst also criticises President Ruto's response to pressure from the younger generation, particularly Generation Z, on the contentious finance measure. Even though the president eventually gave in to criticism and dropped the law, Kenyans saw it as desperate and it did not restore faith.

To recover Kenyans' faith, Manyora asks the president to sincerely listen to and address the challenges that regular individuals are currently facing. The president's words are insufficient; concrete actions are required to close the widening gap between him and his supporters.
