Grammy-nominated Afrobeat musician, Seun Kuti, has made a bold claim about the Egypt 80 band, which he inherited from his late father and Afrobeat pioneer, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti.

In a recent interview with City 105.1 FM, Kuti, claimed that Egypt 80 is Africa’s most successful band, boasting about his important position in society as the frontman of the band.

He said he shares his opinions freely without fear, because he can’t be threatened by culture, adding that the media and African award organizers were already overlooking his music.

Kuti said, “I won’t stop speaking my mind because I’m no longer afraid of anything you’re going to do. What are you going to do? You’re not going to play my videos? Are you not already doing this? So what are you going to do?

Hardship: Man plunges into Osun river

Security agencies in Osun State, have confirmed that a man identified as Femi on Saturday, committed suicide by jumping into the Osun River from the Gbodofon Bridge in Osogbo.

DAILY POST gathered that Femi, who earlier had complained of hardship and unfair treatment, ended his life by jumping into the river.

The spokesperson of Osun State Fire Service, Ibrahim Adekunle, said operatives of the agency, were called for an emergency rescue operation when the victim jumped into the river around 10:30 am on Saturday.

Adejunle said, “We responded, but the river is overflowing and the current is strong at the moment.

Return diverted N30,000 Sallah gift to workers or face serious consequences – Sokoto Gov warns officials

Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu, has warned local government and local government education authority officials, who allegedly siphoned N30,000 Sallah gifts given to workers in the state to return the diverted funds or face serious consequences.

The governor issued the warning on Friday, while addressing a large crowd of well-wishers and supporters at the Government House, Sokoto.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Press Secretary to the Governor, Abubakar Bawa, and made available to newsmen.

According to the statement, the Governor expressed dismay over the nefarious attitude of some financial officers, especially at the local government level, who denied their staff the N30,000 approved as Sallah gifts by the state government.

John Cena announces he will be retiring from WWE

WWE legend John Cena, has revealed when he will be retiring from in-ring competition.

Appearing at WWE Money in the Bank in Toronto, Canada, the 16-time world champion announced that he will retire from the sport in 2025.

Cena disclosed that the 2025 Royal Rumble, Elimination Chamber and WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas would be his last.

Donning a ‘John Cena Farewell Tour 2025’, the WWE legend said, “I’ve been in the WWE for over two decades and in that time, I’ve seen incredible waves of prosperity like we got right now. WWE is the hottest ticket in town, no doubt, but I have also seen true hardship, that’s when no one knows your name, nobody wants to be your friend and only the most dedicated and hardcore fans stand by your side.”
