Southern Egypt Building Collapse Kills 14

Fourteen (14) people died when a three-storey building collapsed in the southern Egyptian city of Assiut, city Gov. Essam Saad said on Tuesday.

The bodies were recovered from under the rubble during search and rescue operations, following the building collapse on Monday.

Six people were rescued and have been transferred to the hospital,” Saad said.

According to him, poor maintenance of old buildings and violations of construction regulations are often blamed for deadly collapses of residential buildings in Egypt.

Rescue teams are still searching for survivors over the past 24 hours, according to the report.

The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, on Tuesday, officially flagged off the construction of Kugbo Bus Terminal in the Federal Capital Territory.

Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, has stated that the country’s military force will soon conquer Hamas militants in Gaza.

Netanyahu mentioned this on Monday, saying the end of the stage of eliminating” Hamas’ army is nearer.

The Prime Minister said, “I returned yesterday from a visit to the Gaza Division. I saw very considerable achievements in the fighting being carried in Rafah. We are advancing to the end of the stage of eliminating the Hamas terrorist army; we will continue striking its remnants.”

He also promised that Israel would achieve its goals in its war against Hamas: returning hostages from Gaza, eliminating Hamas’ military and governing capabilities, ensuring that Gaza will not constitute a threat against Israel and also returning displaced Israeli residents securely to their homes in both the south and the north.

Wife of the Rivers State Governor, Valerie Siminalayi Fubara, has presented 2,400 bags of rice and cash to the poor, vulnerable and physically challenged residents in the 23 local government areas of the state.

Speaking at the event which took place at the Government House in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, Fubara said the gesture was part of the Renewed Hope Initiative Food Security Programme steered by the wife of the President, Senator Oluremi Tinubu.

She explained that through the RHI, Senator Tinubu is working in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture to bring succour to Nigerians who are experiencing excruciating economic conditions to rekindle hope in them.
