Kenya has had several leaders with great potential who met untimely deaths. Below are some of these leaders.

Tom Mboya

He is among the founding fathers of the nation, having played a significant role in the struggle for independence and the post-independence politics of the country. Mboya, who was a trade unionist and a skilled orator, hailed from the Nyanza region and managed to gain national recognition due to his articulate nature.

He served in various top governmental positions before his unfortunate assassination in 1969 which was linked to politics. Mboya is undeniably one of the leaders who had the potential to lead the nation as its president.

George Saitoti

The late Saitoti was a renowned politician in the nation who had served in various top government positions, including being the 6th vice president. He passed away in 2012 in a tragic helicopter accident. At the time of his death, he was serving as the Minister for Internal Security. He was also poised to be a top presidential candidate in the forthcoming 2013 presidential election, which saw former President Kenyatta win.
