President William Ruto chose to rescind the Finance Bill despite caving in to the pressure of the Generation Z demonstrations against it. Kenyans continue to appear in the streets even after the bill was withdrawn. President William Ruto's resignation has now been connected to the protests because Kenyans are dissatisfied with his administration.
Now that the protests are ongoing, Gathoni Wamuchomba has spoken out about them and delivered a message to all of her coworkers. The MP said that the protests are no longer about the budget bill, citing her X (formerly Twitter) account. Every Kenyan leader must alter their ways.
According to the MP, Kenyans are currently demonstrating because of the mindset of other leaders and members of Parliament. She claimed that the MPs have the mindset that Kenyans are the "Raias" and that they are the rulers. She said that the current wave of protests was sparked by her ire at the demolition of homes under the pretext of flooding and her extravagant displays of wealth to display watches, belts, shoes, and even residences to Kenyans.
She said that all of the protests were brought on by the adoption of repressive laws against the people they serve, the sale of false fertilizer to them, the profit-driven sale of deadly sugar, the making of unfulfilled promises, and the tone in which the MPs defend their mess. According to Wamuchomba, they have failed the Kenyan people in their capacity as leaders.
