We've oil in Kogi. I told the Governor that Let's do Business but my proposal was not taken - Achuba

Former Kogi State Deputy Governor, Simon Achuba, has expressed frustration over proposals he made during his tenure that were rejected, including plans to explore oil resources in the state.

In an interview with Channels Television's Sunrise Daily, Achuba revealed that he wrote to the Governor, proposing that the state apply for an oil well and seek partnerships with financiers. This, he believed, would enable Kogi State to generate revenue independently, rather than relying on the Federal Account Allocation Committee (FAAC).

Achuba lamented that his proposal was rejected, and instead, opportunities are often given to individuals. He emphasized that this approach hinders the state's development and prevents it from achieving its full potential

In his words;

"Every proposal that I made, they're still there, but they were not taken. For instance, We've oil in Kogi. I wrote to the Governor and told him that let us do Business. Let us apply for Oil well. If we get the Oil well, we seek partnership with Financiers. When they come in we'd no longer wait for FAAC to do any thing in Kogi State, but these things are often given to individuals"
