Edo Crisis: State Assembly Recalls Suspended Member

The Edo State House of Assembly has recalled the member representing Orhionmwon South constituency, Bright Iyamu, who was suspended along with two others on May 6, 2024 over an alleged plot to impeach the Speaker and other principal officers of the House.

Speaker, Blessing Agbebaku announced the decision at plenary in Benin City, explained that the recalled member showed remorse.

The House plenary session at the Anthony Enahoro Complex of the Edo State House of Assembly commenced with Speaker, Blessing Agbebaku announces that the May 6, 2024 suspension of one of three legislators has been lifted.

Yet, an appeal was made on behalf of the two others who according to the Speaker, remain suspended.

One after the other, the lawmakers across political Party lines commended the leadership qualities of Blessing Agbebaku.

After that, a new calendar with a total of fifty days, for first quarter of the second session of the eighth Assembly, was adopted by the legislators.

According to the calenders, the House has five sitting days in the month of June, twenty-three in July, and twenty-two in August.
