Soldiers Nab Cyclist Running Errands For Bandits

A commercial cyclist suspected of aiding bandits was apprehended by soldiers in Jere town, Kaduna State. The cyclist was intercepted near the Rijana Forest carrying items like recharge cards, cough syrup, spaghetti, wines, and cigarettes allegedly meant for the bandits. He confessed to being paid between N60,000 and N80,000 per errand by the bandits. Vigilantes who had been suspicious of his activities alerted the soldiers, leading to his arrest and subsequent confession of involvement with the bandits.

Tinubu Mourns Senator Ayogu Eze

President Bola Tinubu expressed condolences to the family of Senator Ayogu Eze upon his passing. Senator Eze represented Enugu North Senatorial Zone from 2007 to 2015 and held key positions in the Senate during his tenure. Tinubu extended sympathies to friends, associates, and the National Assembly as well, praying for comfort for those mourning.

Court vacates arrest warrant against Fubara’s CoS, others

The Federal High Court in Abuja has nullified the arrest warrant issued against Edison Ehie, the Chief of Staff to Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State, and five others over their alleged involvement in the burning of the Rivers State House of Assembly building. Justice Emeka Nwite ruled that the court lacked jurisdiction to issue the arrest warrant as there was no pending charge before the court at the time. Femi Falana SAN and Oluwole Aladedoye SAN, representing the defendants, argued that the court lacked the jurisdiction to grant the arrest order. The defendants had filed motions seeking to set aside the arrest order and stay its execution pending the determination of their applications. The charges against them include conspiracy, attempted murder, murder, and arson, allegedly occurring in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Three suspected pipeline vandals caught in Edo

The Edo State Police Command arrested three pipeline vandals in Obazagbon community, Orhiomwon Local Government Area. The suspects, identified as Jackson Aluche (45), Oke Okoro (30), and Oluchukwu Chukwuma (18), were apprehended on April 14 at about 10:30 a.m. for siphoning crude oil and damaging a PAN Ocean Oil Corporation pipeline. According to the State Police Public Relations Officer, Chidi Nwabuzor, the suspects confessed to the crime, stating they were hired by someone named AKA Doctor. They will face charges in court for their actions. This incident follows the recent arrest of four suspected pipeline vandals in Lagos by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps for attempting to breach a Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation pipeline in Obawole, Fagba.
