The Nigerian Army has successfully eliminated a prominent leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), in Imo State.

According to a report by Channels Television, a statement shared by the army on the social media platform X revealed that the troops carried out several operations targeting IPOB hideouts, resulting in the death of the key figure and the apprehension of two other notorious militants.

One of the operations was focused on a suspected stronghold of IPOB in Ezeinyen Okwe Umucheke, a community in the Onuimo Local Government Area.

This specific mission was aimed at capturing Chinemerem, known in the community by the alias "Bam Bam."

Chinemerem was neutralized during the operation as he attempted to access his weapon, with several of his associates being captured in the process.

The army disclosed that a substantial amount of weapons, ammunition, and items linked to IPOB/ESN were seized, and the hideout was subsequently demolished.

Furthermore, the troops intercepted additional suspected members of IPOB/ESN at another location in Ama Hausa, situated in the Okigwe Local Government Area.
