Sonia Amadi, a secondary school teacher, faced severe consequences after physically disciplining a Junior Secondary School (JSS1) student, Favour, in Port Harcourt. In a dramatic turn of events, Favour's family sought revenge by flogging Sonia Amadi as she arrived at school.

The school administration officer, Joy Ajayi, revealed that before the family confronted Sonia Amadi in her office, they had threatened to flog her, warning her to call the police or a lawyer. According to the officer, the family carried out their threat, flogging Sonia Amadi seriously as she arrived at school. Furthermore, Favour's mother also slapped Sonia Amadi as she was entering the school premises.

According to what Joy Ajayi said in the report by Vanguard News, "Before they came to my office and locked me up, a teacher was flogged, my English teacher Sonia Amadi, when she was coming to school. They flogged her seriously. She is in the office, and I have to ask her to calm down. The mother of the boy also slapped her as she was coming to school."

The State Police Command's spokesperson, Superintendent of Police Grace Iringe-Koko, stated that she had not received a report on the incident at the time of inquiry. However, she assured our correspondent that she would investigate and provide an update. As of Monday afternoon, when this report was filed, Iringe-Koko had yet to follow up on her promise.
