According to a report from DAILY POST, two suspects arrested for the theft of a motorcycle in Lafia, Nasarawa State, have reportedly escaped from the custody of the Nasarawa Youth Empowerment Agency (NAYEA).

The incident occurred on Thursday, just a short while after NAYEA had notified the police of the arrests and their plans to hand over the suspects for further investigation and prosecution.

According to internal sources, the suspects were apprehended at various locations within the Lafia metropolis following the theft of a motorcycle from the premises of a popular eatery, Lavista.

NAYEA operatives were able to recover the stolen vehicle as part of their investigation.

However, the suspects, who were reportedly handcuffed while in the custody of NAYEA, managed to escape from the premises, raising concerns about the security measures in place.

A top official from NAYEA confirmed the incident, stating that some personnel are currently in detention for allegedly aiding the escape of the suspects.

"The Abdullahi Bala Likita-led management would leave no stone unturned in rearresting the suspects to ensure they face the full wrath of the law," the official assured the public.
