The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike has said that President Bola Tinubu is not responsible for locating criminals.

According to a report by Daily Post, Wike emphasized that while Tinubu is expected to supply the necessary security tools, it is the duty of security agencies to deal with criminals.

The former Rivers state governor made this known on Friday during a presentation of 50 operational vehicles equipped with communication devices to security agencies in Abuja.

Although Wike reiterated that security is a top priority for Tinubu, he clarified that the President and other government officials are not expected to directly engage with criminals.

He said their role is to equip security agencies so they can effectively combat crime and ensure public safety. He stressed the importance of support for the security agencies to perform their duties properly.

Wike also called on residents to support and pray for security personnel, who sometimes risk their lives in the line of duty.

He said, "For us as a government, it is not the responsibility of Mr President to go and identify where the criminals are; it is not my responsibility or the minister of state’s responsibility to go and engage criminals.

"It is our responsibility to provide the tools for the security agencies to confront these criminals and make sure we sleep with our two eyes closed.

"If we do not play this role, it will be difficult for our security agencies to be effective and to be able to carry out this function of securing lives and properties."
