President Buhari Appoints Olusegun Awolowo

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Mr. Olusegun Awolowo as the Secretary of the National Action Committee on the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

Awolowo’s appointment is for a tenure of four (4) years with effect from December 19, 2022.

This was announced by the Nigerian government on its official Twitter handle on Tuesday.

Olusegun Awolowo is the grandson of the former Premier of the Old Western Region, Chief Obafemi Awolowo.

Peter Obi's Campaign Director, Others Dump LP

The Campaign Director of the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate Peter Obi in Bauchi State, Alhaji Alhassan Bawu, has dumped the party for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Bawu, who defected to the PDP with other officials of the party in the Northeast, blamed the lack of LP structure at the State, local and ward levels for the decision


Niger APC Shuns Tinubu Campaign Rally In New Bussa

The rift in the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Niger State came to a fore as the state leadership of the party advised its supporters to shun a planned campaign organised by the Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Aliyu Abdullahi Sabi, representing Niger North Senatorial District and National Coordinator, of Tinubu/Shettima campaign.

The said rally was fixed for today, 31 January 2023 in New Bussa.

Senator Sabi had through his Special Assistant, Operations, Mohammed Garba Danladi in a letter dated 27/01/2023 and addressed to the state party chairman, Hon. Haliru Zakari Jikantoro, notified the party and the working committee of the planned ‘Grand Lockdown Rally’ in New Bussa town to galvanize support for APC candidates.


Prominent Nigerian Monarch, Emir Of Dutse, Nuhu Sanusi Is Dead

The Emir of Dutse, Dr Nuhu Muhammadu Sanusi, is dead.

The first-class traditional ruler in the Northwestern part of Nigeria reportedly died on Tuesday.

Sanusi was born in 1945 at Yargaba village in Dutse, the capital of Jigawa State.

The late monarch attended Dutse Elementary School from 1952 to 1956.

He later attended Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria where he obtained a National Certificate in Education (NCE). The late monarch also had a BSc and a master of Arts in International Business from Ohio University, US.
