According to Tribune news, the Labour Party Directorate on Mobilization and Integration has issued a stern warning to the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) National Transition Committee (NTC), urging them to cease their efforts in undermining the party and its 2027 presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi.

The Directorate reaffirmed Barrister Julius Abure as the legitimate National Chairman of the Labour Party, duly recognized by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the party's highest decision-making body. It emphasized the importance of respecting the reconciliation initiatives spearheaded by Peter Obi and advised the NLC NTC to seek legal recourse if they have grievances.

The statement came in response to an unsigned statement purportedly released by the NLC NTC, which erroneously referred to Abure as the former National Chairman and directed stakeholders to boycott upcoming party congresses in Anambra, Imo, Delta, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Marcel Ngogbehei, Director General of the Labour Party Directorate on Mobilization and Integration, condemned the NTC's actions as irresponsible, malicious, and legally questionable. He urged party members to focus on upcoming congresses and ignore divisive tactics orchestrated by the NTC, which he accused of colluding with the government to undermine opposition parties.

Ngogbehei emphasized that the Labour Party remains committed to its principles and urged stakeholders to uphold unity and integrity within the party structure amidst external challenges.
