According to the report from the Vanguard, Kano state government is set to complete the 5-kilometer rural road project that was abandoned across the 44 local government areas of the state. Governor Abba Yusuf assured this during a meeting with the contractors responsible for the capital projects. The road projects, which were awarded by former governor Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, were neglected by the previous administration of Abdullahi Umar Ganduje. This failure to complete the projects has caused great distress to the direct beneficiaries over the past eight years.

Governor Yusuf praised the contractors for their prompt response and assured them of his administration's commitment to continue the road infrastructure projects initiated by Dr. Kwankwaso. The agreements reached during the meeting included the immediate mobilization of the contractors to the project sites within the next week. The state Ministry of Land and Physical Planning was also directed to resolve any pending compensation issues.

Furthermore, the contractors were instructed to meet with their respective banks to access the 30 percent advance payment that had been released but not yet accessed. In light of the increase in construction material prices, the government has agreed to review the cost of the remaining works based on moderate upward rates. To ensure timely payments, the government will implement a strategic monthly payment plan for the contractors. Those who accept the new offer are required to mobilize to their sites within one week, otherwise, they will forfeit the opportunity.
