On Tuesday, the Netherlands secured their spot in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Euro 2024 with an emphatic 3-0 victory over Romania in Munich, marking their first entry into this stage of the European Championship since 2008.

The Dutch started strong, taking an early lead when Cody Gakpo found the net in the 20th minute after a well-executed move involving Xavi Simons and Jerdy Schouten. Despite dominating possession, the Oranje struggled to extend their lead until late in the game. Donyell Malen doubled their advantage in the 83rd minute, courtesy of an assist from Gakpo, before sealing the win with another goal in stoppage time.

Manager Ronald Koeman emphasized the team's need to improve their finishing, acknowledging their missed opportunities in earlier stages of the match. He highlighted the importance of defensive solidarity and collective effort, sentiments echoed by captain Virgil van Dijk prior to the game.

Romania, who topped Group E with a notable win over Ukraine, found themselves unable to match the Dutch's intensity and quality throughout the match. Despite a few promising moments, including an early chance from Dennis Man, they failed to capitalize on their opportunities.
