The Labour Party has described those urging Peter Obi to exit the Labour Party as "delusional," emphasizing that true supporters of the former presidential candidate, known as Obidients, would never suggest such a move.

According to the report by Vanguard on Thursday, the National Vice Chairman of the party, Ayo Olorunfemi, questioned which other party Obi could possibly join, given his political values and the state of Nigeria's major political parties, PDP and APC.

Speaking during a recent appearance on Channels Television's Politics Today, Olorunfemi asked if those calling on Obi to leave the Labour Party want him to go and join the PDP or APC.

The Labour Party has been Obi's political home since he joined in 2022, and Olorunfemi noted that the party's social democratic ideology aligns with Obi's political stance.

He added that the party has been working to resolve internal conflicts and reunify its members, and also expressed confidence in the party's ability to emerge stronger and provide a solid foundation for Obi's 2027 presidential campaign.

In addition to that, the party reiterated its position as the sole platform for Peter Obi's successful presidential bid in 2027.

Olorunfemi said, "Well I will just use the word delusional, those ones that are pressing for such, they are delusional. Some people can overreach themselves, the true Obidients out there, they won't advise Peter Obi to leave the party.

"You have the true Obidients, the student union groups, the youths of Nigeria, the hardworking people of Nigeria, are tired of what is going on now in Nigeria. People are tired of hunger. Which political party will he go to? To go back to PDP, APC or to where?"
