opera.com 4 days ago

Kingsley Moghalu, former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, has expressed disappointment in the performance of Southeast governors regarding capital importation. According to a report by StatiSense, the Southeast region attracted $1.55 billion in capital importation since Q1 2017, lagging behind other regions.

Moghalu stated that despite individual governors' commendable efforts, the collective will and commitment required for the region's progress on security and economic fronts are lacking. He questioned whether the ongoing meeting convened by elder statesman Chief Emeka Anyaoku, ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo, and Ohaneze President-General Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu would bring about change.

Moghalu's comments highlight the need for collective action and leadership to address the region's challenges and unlock its economic potential. The meeting's outcome is being closely watched, as it may determine the fate of the region's development.
