Governor Yusuf emphasized that this initiative is not politically motivated but rather a response to the mandate of the people of Kano State. The commission, consisting of justices and other eminent personalities, will conduct a thorough investigation to ensure accountability and justice for the people of Kano State.
Edo LP Governorship: INEC Adamant on Placeholder
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has affirmed its stance on the deputy governorship candidate of the Labour Party (LP) for the upcoming governorship election in Edo State. INEC stated that it will not modify the list of candidates it has published, maintaining that this list represents the final lineup for the election.
The Edo State chapter of the LP had raised objections, asserting that INEC erroneously listed a placeholder as its deputy governorship candidate instead of the duly nominated candidate, Asamah Yusuf Kadiri. LP attributed this error to technical issues at the party's headquarters.
However, according to Section 33 of the Electoral Act 2022, a political party is only permitted to substitute a candidate under exceptional circumstances such as death or voluntary withdrawal. In such cases, the party must conduct a fresh primary election within 14 days to nominate a replacement.

Abiodun orders residents’ evacuation after Ogun gas explosion
Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has ordered the evacuation of residents from buildings affected by a gas explosion in the Ita-Oshin area of Abeokuta.
