Otti Vows To Fish Out Killers Of Aba Policemen

Abia State governor, Alex Otti, on Saturday said the state government would fish out the killers of two policemen shot dead by unknown assailants in the state on Friday.

The two policemen, Inspector Augustine Ogbudu (36 years) from Cross River State and Superintendent Eziekel Sunday from Kebbi State were killed, while two other police officers were wounded in the Aba area of the state.

Sunday PUNCH gathered that a 14-year-old teenager also lost his life during the attack which occurred at Opobo Junction Ogborhill Aba.

But speaking to newsmen during his visit to the families of the victims, Governor Otti described the attack as unfortunate, vowing that his government would fish out the perpetrators.

President Bola Tinubu has approved the commencement of construction for sections 3 and 4 of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, spanning from Cross River to Akwa Ibom, the Minister of Works, David Umahi has disclosed.

Also, the government revealed plans to terminate the reconstruction and rehabilitation contract for the Lokoja-Benin road due to inexplicable delays and the contractors’ lack of commitment to addressing the needs of the people.

Umahi said that the commencement of the two sections of the highway, while Sections 1 and 2 are still ongoing and yet to be completed, marks a departure from old practices and reinforces the Tinubu administration’s commitment to sustaining its infrastructural development drive in line with its Renewed Hope Agenda.

Umahi, who disclosed at the stakeholders’ engagement meeting in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state on 29, June 2024, noted that the commitment of President Tinubu to the project was confirmed by the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio at the stakeholders’ meeting.

“We are here to introduce sections three and four of the famous Lagos- Calabar Coastal Highway. We started and awarded section one which started in Lagos and terminated at the deep port in Lagos which is at 47.4 km

Always pray for our fallen heroes, injured soldiers, COAS urges personnel

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.- Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, on Sunday, June 30, urged Nigerian Army personnel to keep praying for the repose of the souls of fallen heroes who made the supreme sacrifice in defending the country.

Gen. Lagbaja also urged them to always pray for the speedy physiological and psychological recovery of personnel who suffered injuries in the ongoing operations across the country.

The army chief said this at the interdenominational church service in commemoration of the Nigerian Army Day Celebration 2024, at the All Saints’ Military Church (Protestant), Army Headquarters Garrison, Mogadishu Cantonment, Abuja.

He said this year’s NADCEL with the theme, “Transforming the Nigerian Army: Imperative for Combating Contemporary Security Challenges within a Joint Environment”, highlights the Nigerian Army’s responsibility to promote national unity, integration, and development.

Renewed Hope Housing: FG warns developers against shoddy jobs

The federal government has warned developers handling its Renewed Hope Cities and Estates across the country to refrain from doing shoddy jobs or be ready to face the law.

Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Musa Dangiwa handed down the warning at the groundbreaking exercise for a 250-unit estate at Ekpan, in the Uvwie council area of Delta state, weekend.

Governor of Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori was represented by his deputy, Monday Onyeme, at the occasion.

On his part, Prince Sam Ogrih, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director of Goodnews Creative Ideas Limited, expressed gratitude to the Federal Government for extending the Renewed Hope Cities and Estate programmes to Delta state.
