Ambassador Dr. Kalu Ofon Emmanuel, serving as the Lagos State Chapter President of the International Human Rights Protection Service with headquarters in Naples, Florida, expressed his observations on the perceived political nature surrounding the case of Nnamdi Kanu. He highlighted a comparative analysis implying a potential bias in the treatment of individuals from different regions within Nigeria.

Dr. Ofon suggested that if Nnamdi Kanu hailed from the Northern, South-Western, or South-Southern regions, his prolonged incarceration would likely have been deemed untenable. Drawing a contrast, he referenced the case of Sunday Igboho, who faces criminal allegations yet roams freely.

The Ambassador emphasized the apparent discrepancy in treatment, noting that Nnamdi Kanu, in his assessment, has not committed offenses comparable to others walking free. He denounced the situation as not only "disgusting" and "inhuman" but also as a blatant infringement upon Kanu's fundamental human rights.

In an interview with Independent, Dr Ofon said, "The whole thing has become political. If Nnamdi Kanu had come from the North, or South-West or South-South, it would have been absolutely impossible for him to be remanded in prison for so long.

Think of Sunday lgboho, who allegedly committed punishable crimes, punishable by the law, he’s walking freely on the streets. Yet, the man who committed no crime as others is punished and languishing in pain in prison. That is absolutely disgusting, inhuman, and violation of his fundamental human rights."
