Dr. Asue Ighodalo, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the upcoming September 21 governorship election in Edo State, has been actively engaging with the Edo Diaspora in Europe, culminating in a successful meeting in Hamburg, Germany. This outreach is part of a broader European tour that has included stops in Reggio Emilia, Italy, as well as Manchester and London in the United Kingdom, with a final event scheduled in Nuremberg.

During his address in Hamburg, Ighodalo reaffirmed his commitment to transforming Edo State into a first-world sub-national entity within Nigeria. He emphasized that he, alongside his running mate Barrister Osarodion Ogie and a capable team, aims to implement their “Pathway to Prosperity for All” manifesto to achieve this ambitious goal.

Ighodalo shared his vision for the state, highlighting the significant historical contributions of Edo's past leaders and the progress made in recent years. He stressed the importance of building on these developments and not regressing, noting that any backward movement would be a disservice to the people of Edo State.

While acknowledging the advancements under Governor Godwin Obaseki’s administration, Ighodalo expressed his intent to further solidify these reforms. He made it clear that the state must continue to progress and that reverting to previous conditions would be unacceptable.

Ighodalo pledged to prioritize security and law enforcement in Edo State, aiming to set a standard for order and governance. He highlighted the importance of maintaining law and order and the need to address impunity, which has been a pervasive issue across the country. The meeting concluded with enthusiastic support from the audience, as Ighodalo's vision and commitment to the state's future resonated with the attendees.

Hear him: “We must know who we are in Edo State. Our state has produced some very famous individuals in the past who etched their names in national history. The last eight years have witnessed some good developments. We must build on them. We can’t go back to the past. If it happens it will be a shame to each and every one of us in this hall. I am not a spokesperson for the administration of Governor Godwin Obaseki, but I can tell you that the administration has moved Edo State from where it used to be. We can only move forward and not seek to go back. Edo State has changed. It is time to solidify the reforms that the Obaseki administration has achieved.”

We are clear in our mind that working through the ‘Pathway to Prosperity for All’ we can achieve it. The task we set before ourselves is to ensure Edo State is secured. Before the conversation on State Police is concluded, we will make do with what we have. How do people live without law and order? You see impunity everywhere in the country. No, we must set the pace in Edo State. There must be high regard for law and order."
