71-Year-Old Farmer Killed and Buried in Ondo State; Suspect Arrested

According to Vanguard, a 71-year-old farmer, Toyo Olanipekun, was killed and buried on his farm in Igbobini, Ese-Odo Local Government Area of Ondo State. The police have arrested a 36-year-old motorcyclist, Blessing Akinmade, in connection with the crime.

The murder is alleged to have stemmed from a land dispute between Igbobini and the neighboring Irele community. Olanipekun's body was found in a shallow grave behind a primary school in the community by a search team that went looking for him after he failed to return home from his farm.

Following an intelligence report, police detectives arrested Akinmade. He has been charged with conspiracy and murder and was arraigned before an Akure Magistrate’s Court sitting at Oke-Eda.

Police prosecutor Abdulateef Sulaiman informed the court that the offence was committed on June 24, 2024, at about 9 a.m. in Igbobini. Sulaiman stated that Akinmade, along with others still at large, unlawfully killed Toyo Olanipekun and buried him in a shallow grave.
