We are deeply shock and saddened by this barbaric attack - Southern Senators

According to the report from the Vanguard, Senators from the Southern region of Nigeria, under the Southern Senators Forum, have strongly condemned the heinous suicide bombing attacks that occurred in Tashan Mararaba, Gwoza town, Borno State on Saturday, June 29, 2024. The attack claimed the lives of at least 18 individuals and left numerous others injured.

In a statement released in Abuja and signed by Senator Mikhail Adetokunbo Abiru, Chairman of the Forum and representative of Lagos East (APC), Senator Barinada Mpigi, Secretary-General and representative of Rivers South East (PDP), and Senator Asuquo Ekpenyong, Publicity Secretary and representative of Cross River South (APC), the Forum emphasized that these acts of terrorism serve as a stark reminder of the ongoing security challenges faced by the nation.

The statement read, "The Nigerian Southern Senators Forum strongly condemns the heinous suicide bombing attacks that took place in Tashan Mararaba, Gwoza town, Borno State on Saturday, June 29, 2024. The attack claimed the lives of at least 18 persons and injured numerous others."

"We are deeply shocked and saddened by this barbaric attack, and our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims, their families, and the entire affected community. Such acts of terrorism remind us of the urgent need for a collective, collaborative, and robust response to terrorism in our country. We call on the federal government and all security agencies to intensify their efforts in combating terrorism and ensuring the safety and security of all Nigerians. The perpetrators of this atrocity must be swiftly brought to justice."

"We commend President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his swift condemnation of the attacks and his administration's determination to bring the perpetrators to justice, as well as his reassurance to continue securing the lives and properties of citizens."
