The Super Eagles of Nigeria have been seeded among the top teams in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) draw, which took place in Johannesburg, South Africa, according to ScoreNigeria. As a result, they have avoided some of Africa's football heavyweights, including reigning champions Cote d'Ivoire and hosts Morocco, in the qualifiers.

The Super Eagles, who were beaten finalists in the 2023 AFCON, have been rewarded for their impressive performance with a favourable seeding. They will now avoid the likes of Cote d'Ivoire, Morocco, Senegal, Cameroon, and South Africa, who are also top seeds in the draw.

Instead, the Super Eagles could potentially draw perennial rivals Ghana, as well as Benin and Rwanda, who are not among the top seeds. The draw has also placed teams into 12 groups of four, with the top two teams in each group automatically advancing to the tournament proper.

The qualifying series is set to begin in September and will conclude in November, with the tournament kicking off on December 21, 2025. The Super Eagles will be looking to build on their impressive performance in the 2023 AFCON and go one step further by lifting the coveted trophy.

With their top seeding, the Super Eagles have a significant advantage in the qualifiers and will be looking to make the most of it. Avoiding the likes of Cote d'Ivoire and Morocco in the qualifiers is a major boost, and they will be confident of navigating their way to the tournament proper.

The 2025 AFCON promises to be an exciting tournament, with the best teams in Africa vying for the ultimate prize. The Super Eagles will be looking to make a statement and bring glory to Nigeria.
