Shehu Sani, a Nigerian politician and author, has shared a bit of history regarding the democratic system of government practiced in Nigeria.

The current administration, led by Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has celebrated 25 years of unbroken democracy in Nigeria.

However, in a video posted by Channels Television, Shehu Sani recounted how he was arrested alongside the former president of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo, by security agencies and kept in detention.

He also narrated how the inmates who were said to be armed robbers, upon sighting the former president in the cell, rained insults on him.

According to the video, "When the armed robbers saw Obasanjo, they shouted and insulted him. And naturally, for those of us who are human rights activists who are popular with inmates, I said you are a commander outside; this is where I also command.".
